On Waterboarding

Via Joe. My. God., Via - Dan Savage.

"[If] the Bush administration didn’t think [waterboarding] was torture, they ought to do some personal investigation. Someone in the Bush family should actually be waterboarded so they could report on it to George. I said, I didn’t think he would do it, but I suggested Jenna be waterboarded and then she could talk about whether or not she thought it was torture." - Stephen King to Time Magazine.

we did this in the comox valley as part of our peace demos.

i lasted less than 10 seconds and a young man who is a competitive swimmer lasted less than 30 - you can't breathe and you suck in water.

when they do it for real, they drown you and then revive you again and again and again - it's diabolical.

That's why I think the whole "it's not torture if it doesn't harm/maim you" argument is so hilarious. That's the whole point.

I'm impressed as hell that you tried it though.
